Eclipses and Undercurrents: Spotlight and Shadow

We have officially entered the second eclipse season of 2026. The last eclipse season, from February to March, saw the arrest of Prince Andrew, a major escalation of conflict between Iran and the United States, and the fallout from ICE activity and violence in Minnesota. Of course, I am writing from North America, so depending on where you are in the world, you may have experienced different headlines, changes of leaders, or other major events that occurred in February and March of this year.

While these events can happen at any time, eclipses often coincide with periods when hidden information comes to light, leadership shake-ups occur, and controversy intensifies.  Often, celebrities or people of prominence can meet their end, whether that is the end of a position, status, or life. It is thought that even the New Testament refers to a sudden midday darkness surrounding the death of Jesus, an event that has often been associated symbolically with eclipse imagery.

In terms of this eclipse, things are already ramping up, and we are seeing many visible controversies and theatrics unfolding. This next eclipse is in Leo on August 12. The energy often begins about a week prior to an eclipse. Drama is a word often associated with Leo. Leo energy tends to express itself visibly and in a way that gets attention. Ruled by the Sun, the central emitter of our solar system, Leo is understandably associated with centrality, light, leadership, power, and strength. Just as all living beings rely upon the Sun’s rays for life, Earth itself is held in its path by the Sun’s gravitational pull, and drama pulls you in.

So, leaders changing, even managers or bosses at work, are possible in the upcoming weeks. New revelations about world leaders and conflicts are also likely. Celebrities and people of prominence acting out in ways that are deemed controversial, highly visible, and attention-grabbing have already started. This solar eclipse in Leo is bound to be memorable.

The undercurrent beneath everything grand and expansive happening in Leo right now is Pluto in Aquarius. I say expansive because Jupiter, the planet associated with growth and expansion, is also in Leo. Pluto will remain in Aquarius for many years to come, but I do expect to see collective movements, protests, shifting power dynamics, and a communal effort to reveal abuses of power and call out oversights in ways we have not seen before. The first strong currents of this powerful collective energy are already building with the North Node in Aquarius, where it will remain until March 2028

2026’s eclipse season ends with a partial Full Moon eclipse at 4 degrees Pisces on August 28, 2026. This will likely bring hidden information and situations that have been building toward a culmination into greater awareness.

To me, this 2^nd eclipse is putting an exclamation mark on the need for both compassion and accuracy, facts if you will. With the Moon’s position near Fomalhaut, there is an emphasis on vision and dreams while also asking us to discern between true insight and illusion. The Sun and Mercury in Virgo opposing the eclipse Moon highlight the need to examine facts, question assumptions, and refine what is not working. This is the balance between Pisces’ ability to see the bigger picture with empathy and Virgo’s need for accuracy and discernment.

I can’t leave this piece without mentioning the unfolding of the ongoing AI story. Humanity is still questioning whether it is friend or foe. Should we or should we not proceed with incorporating this technology, and to what extent? What are the environmental risks and the risks to economic systems at large? Is there good to be found? Will humanity win or lose? These are all questions being asked and, in my opinion, questions that should be asked before we put our feet on the accelerator.
